The castle’s name means new Crete and was founded by some families that escaped from Crete during the Turkish rule. It was placed on the hills for safety against pirates. The castle contains elements of the Byzantine and Venetian architecture. During summer different events take place in the castle. It offers a spectacular view and naturally intact atmosphere.
